Coming down to the wire… Christmas is around the corner! Robyn and JR were just married this past weekend and I got the chance to shoot another photo booth at their reception. Once again, everyone had a grand old time posing in front of the camera! Here are a couple of my faves from the booth that evening:

Kerry and Lawrence were one of my 2008 couples and shortly after their wedding, they transplanted out to Alberta so Lawrence could complete his medical residency. When Kerry came back this time for a visit, she left Lawrence behind but instead brought along their new little addition to the family: Sophie. They came down to the studio and we did a nice little mother + daughter + grandfather shoot. Sophie got to model a couple of different outfits and hats – Kerry’s father referred to them as tea cosies but I thought Sophie pulled them off quite nicely, especially my favorite which was the knitted pink one. There were some very nice “real” moments in this shoot – I’ve posted a few of them below:

After spending the afternoon doing headshots for Malynda’s upcoming CD release, we spent the evening at a more casual pace doing portraits of her family as well as maternity photos. It made for a fun day in that I had the opportunity to try out so many different feels, backgrounds, and lighting techniques all in the same shoot – from “fashiony” headshots, to capturing her boys bounding around the studio, to creating a moody feel for the maternity shots. One of the more interesting challenges was making the transition from avoiding Malynda’s belly at the start of the day to making the belly the central focus of the images by the end. What was also remarkable was how well Malynda – being 7+ months pregnant – pulled off the entire shoot. Some faves from Part II:

Malynda Zacharias is a local singer/songwriter who, after many years as the driving force behind Beautiful Unique Girl, is now getting ready to get back into the studio. As part of an all-day shoot, we spent the first half taking head shots for her upcoming promo material. Armed with a plethora of outfits, we split our time between the studio and the great atmosphere and background of Aqua Books (thanks to Kelly for letting us use his space!). A quick sample of some of my faves:

Leanne and Brent are wonderful wedding clients of mine who recently added a new member to their family: baby Ella. It’s always nice to photograph people in the context of their own homes – the sessions always have a bit of a “day in the life of…” feel to them. Plus, Leanne and Brent have a beautiful house with great lighting, so that’s always a bonus for shooting. Ella was a little restless at first in her Christmas dress (she was more interested in trying to eat it), but with the “formal” portraits of her and her cousin out of the way, her playful little personality quickly emerged. She seemed to quite enjoy romping around with mom and dad, and had GREAT interest in the cat who seemed quite intent on being part of the shoot too. Some faves from the session:
