Winter Portraits – Nancy, Matt & Aselyn

As I’ve mentioned in the past, playing on my frisbee team means you start having babies.  It must be something in our water bottles.  At any rate, Matt and Nancy took a little longer than most on the team, but they too eventually joined the ranks of parenthood last year with the arrival of Aselyn.

We had been meaning to do the shoot for quite a while now, but it wasn’t until the new year that we were able to get into the studio.  Aselyn at this point might be closer to being a toddler than a baby, and it showed as she clearly knew what she wanted to do and pretty much ran the show.  Although a pretty serious little girl, it didn’t take long for Matt’s clowning around to get her giggling and shrieking.  Nancy’s family dropped by later in the shoot for a few pics, and we ended the session by stopping in at the Fyxx for 3 warm mugs + 1 sippy cup.  A sneak peek at the session:

Gram, her cottage, and her family

It’s hard enough during the busy summer and fall seasons to find time to shoot for myself.  It’s even harder to find time to process any personal pictures I might have taken.  Thankfully, the quieter season in the new year lets me catch up on some of these little pet projects.

My wife’s grandmother, Jean, just recently celebrated her 89th birthday. Affectionately known as Gram to her grandchildren and GG to her great grandchildren, she’s been one of the constants in our lives since we moved to Manitoba.  For as long as I’ve known her, Gram has always been a vibrant lady who is more active than many a younger person I know.  She’s the linchpin that brings together my wife’s family, as it’s been a yearly tradition to spend Thanksgiving out at her cottage in Ponemah on Lake Winnipeg.  It’s a fitting time to be at the cottage – all of her grandchildren spent parts of their childhood at the lake, and I know they’re all thankful that they can still come back to a place so full of good memories.

Happy belated Gram!  I hope you enjoy this handful of snaps I took at this past fall’s gathering – they reminded me of you and the cottage.

Klaus & Christine & Family

Happy new year!  Hope you had a great holiday season!  It’s back to work around here and time to get caught up with all the shoots.  To kick off 2011, here are some pics from a recent session with Klaus & Christine’s family.  Like they did last winter, they all came down to the studio for a shoot and this time brought along Christine’s niece from Germany to boot.  I’m not sure what was more impressive – little Elena’s growth in size or little Martha’s growth in her already advanced vocabulary.  All in all a fun little session – how can you not have fun with an orange balloon!
