Married in Vancouver – Shuen & Chris – the photobooth

Here are a few teasers from the reception of Shuen and Chris’s wedding which we shot last weekend in Vancouver.  Recipe:

  • find one good backdrop locally;
  • add a few flashes and stands;
  • mix in a white board + cozy reception + a few drinks + a bunch of colourful and willing guests;
  • stir it up, sit back, and let the camera capture the personalities that come out.

Can’t wait to post some pics from the wedding itself, but for now, the photobooth:

Family portraits – Corenelius + Tania + Lukas + Annalie

Last year they were three – now they are four: Cornelius and Tania came into the studio this time accompanied by little Lukas and his new baby sister Annalie.  Baby outfits are so much cooler these days, and Annalie was sporting a dandy matching hat + dress set.  The hat didn’t last terribly long though, as she happily flapped around and grabbed at hats, noses, hair, brothers, and anything else that came within range.  Lukas was not to be outdone in the fashion department – his little suspenders were just awesome, and he was so very obliging in front of the camera.  Apparently the kids weren’t at the top of their games, having skipped naps and fighting colds, but you wouldn’t be able to tell from how photogenic they were:

Jasper in the winter

Between hibernation and taking some time off, it’s been a little slow posting around here lately.  It’s time to kickstart back into it, and with the snow quickly disappearing, I figure I should start off with the last of the winter shoots.

Continuing on with the series of Jasper through his first year, I dropped by Julie and Devin’s place a few weeks back when there was still more snow on the ground. Babies change so much in the first year, and little Jasper had clearly become a little person since I last saw him.  True, he still maintained his calm and reserved air he’s always had (he probably regarded me with his cool, sober stare for the first half hour).  But this kid was now on the go – I think if Julie and Devin’s lower backs could have handled it, Jasper could have endlessly walked around his house the entire time I was there.  This kid clearly loves to walk, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he skipped crawling altogether.

After towing his parents around the circuit of the kitchen and living room for nearly an hour, we bundled Jasper up and went outside for a few shots.  Baby snow suits are one of the banes of early years (for both the parents and the babies), but Jasper’s outfit and stegasaurus hat were pretty cute (I think what made it cuter was Jasper’s air of patient resignation about it all).  A couple of snow shots, back inside for some more walking around, and then it was naptime for the little fellow.  I’ll be interested to see what Jasper’s thoughts on spring will be.  In the meantime, some pics from the session:
