Married – Liza & Darwin

It was a fabulous day shooting with Liza and Darwin – it’s hard not to enjoy working with people who are just so warm hearted. It also didn’t hurt that I got to shoot at the Graffiti Gallery and the Millennium Library, two places that I don’t get to very often. With Liza being a graphic designer by trade, I knew all the details were going to be top notch and I wasn’t disappointed – the great colour harmony, the matching parasols, the designer chocolates, and the super cool cake standing out for me.  It was a beautiful day with two genuinely beautiful people.  A handful of faves:

Lifestyle portraits – Jay, Kathy, and Ziya

It’s been two years since Kathy and Jay were married and they have since moved into a great new house and filled it with a beautiful new little daughter Ziya.  We went for a leisurely stroll through John Bruce Park and were blessed with some wonderful summer evening light.  Cute as a button, Ziya was putting her little legs to work, while Jay and Kathy ran after her and I ran after everybody.  Some faves from the session:

Home for sale

It’s been one of the busiest weeks of my life, with a lot of it to do with getting our house ready to sell.

Anybody looking for a good home?  We’ve got one and we’re hoping for some really great people to move in.  It’s a fabulous character house built in the 1920s and has all sorts of neat features: big rooms, 9ft ceilings with some of them coved, a really cool retro bathroom with green tilework (it’s like a time-warp every time you shower!), a 3-season sunroom with a hot tub, and lots of nooks and crannies that make it easy to host parties as well as escape to your own little space.  At 2300 sq. ft., it’s a pretty good size and it sits on a wide lot surrounded by landscaped perennial gardens that my wife has slowly and diligently made to look quite lovely.  The area goes by several names (Luxton, Scotia Heights, West Kildonan), but whatever you want to call it, it’s a real secret gem of a neighbourhood with lots of friendly new families. Clients are always pleasantly surprised when they turn down our street and find themselves in “mini River Heights”.

It’s truly a sadness to leave this house with a red door that we’ve been in for almost ten years, but we’ll remember it fondly and hope to leave it in good hands.  If you want more details or to make an appointment to see the place, check out our MLS listing.  The pictures may not be all up on the listing yet, so here’s what it looks like while we wait for the MLS to update:

(P.S. Thanks again to all my clients who are patiently waiting for their pictures. I really appreciate your continued patience and promise I’m burning the candle at both ends as much as I can to keep the editing going!)

Married – Amanda & Dwayne

This was the second time this summer, third time in all, that I had the privilege of working with the Chenier family as Dwayne married the beautiful Amanda.  I always appreciate how much this group of people make me feel like I’m part of the family.  This wedding was just full of little details and moments that stood out – the hilarious hunting down of champagne glasses for the bridesmaids; the groomsman’s bag of beef jerky that was such a huge hit with everyone; little Jackson adding his own little moments to his parents’ wedding; the light rain shower that capped off the ceremony; shooting the formals amidst the many patrons and cool backdrops of the Earls restaurant; the fantastic decor and momentous entrance of the couple to the reception.  Between the expressions and the settings, it was a treat of a day to shoot.  Here are some of my faves:

Married – Anupa & Vishal

Another wonderful East Indian wedding bursting with colour, expressions, and emotions.  On this gloriously hot and sunny summer day, Anupa and Vishal were splendid in all their attire, their easy smiles never far from their faces as they were happily in the thick of all the celebrations. A few of my faves from the day:
