Lifestyle portraits – the Sareens

Every year for the past five years I’ve looked forward to seeing the Sareens again – Sanjay and Candice are wonderful people, Mya and Aidan are crazy cute and love having their pictures taken, and I just love working with this family. We did shake things up a bit this time – we went for a fall shoot instead of the spring; Aidan was rocking some serious flow to his hair; and we went on-location to the family’s fabulous gravel quarry. What a great place for a shoot – you don’t get to work with hills very often in the Winnipeg area, much less very awesome hills of sand and stone.

It’s almost like a time-lapse video every time I photograph Mya and Aidan – it’s crazy how fast they’re growing up. I thought it would get easier over time to keep up with them, but it sure feels like they keep getting faster while I just keep getting slower. Thank you again Candice and Sanjay – hopefully I can keep photographing your kids whenever I drop into Winnipeg (if you’ll still have me that is!). Just a handful from a really great session:

Married – Rosie & Harkie

It was a fabulous three days of shooting jam-packed events, beautiful colours, and a great looking couple. The two things I really enjoyed about this wedding – making extensive use of lighting to really make things pop, and the impromptu stop at Hy’s for a martini just before making the grand entrance at the reception. Congrats Rosie & Harkie! A very small handful from the many great shots from your wedding:

Family – Scott | Val | Ella

Here’s a quick session with good friend Scott, the lovely Val, and their cute little munchkin Ella. It’s amazing how much Ella looks like both of her parents to me – even down to her miniature versions of Val’s big brown eyes & smile and Scott’s furrowed brow. Ella is one of the smiliest babies I’ve ever seen, and it’s not a wonder considering how much loving she gets from her parents. Some faves from the day:

Family – Stephen | Noella | Brhe | Ella | Abbey

From their own wedding, to his sister’s wedding, to her brother’s wedding, I feel like I’ve gotten to know Noella and Stephen as well as any clients I’ve ever had. It’s been neat to watch their family grow over the years: Ella from little baby to bouncy little girl, Brhe as she grows into a lovely young lady, and the arrival of the spirited and wonderfully expressive Abbey.  As I’ve said before, these guys are like family now. I’m going to miss them and hope that somehow our paths will still cross whenever I drop into Winnipeg. A final portrait session at Assiniboine Park before I left:

Married – Dilpreet & Sanjot

Continuing to catch up on my big pile of editing, here is a sneak peek into Dilpreet & Sanjot’s reception in Winnipeg. As always, the colours at East Indian weddings are wonderful and in this regard, Dil and Sanj’s evening was particularly vibrant. Sanjot was the very picture of elegance, while Dil was the man of the hour surrounded by his posse of boys. Some faves from the evening:
