There are some constants in life – Tim & Tara make baby girls; the girls are always cute little munchkins and so fashionably dressed (when they’re not busy taking off their clothes that is); and I take their pictures when they turn 6 months old. So we met at Fraser’s Grove, turned the older two girls loose, and off I went snapping. I think this session really captured the feel of the girls at the playground – something about the swings worked well that day. Little Charlotte was comfortably napping (her seemingly preferred state), but she woke up in time to get in some shots. Some faves from the session:

Ariane, Ryan, and Alex are another great family I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years. Whether it’s for their wedding or for Alex’s birthday, we always seem to end up at the Forks. This time, however, we followed little Alex into the Children’s Museum where he celebrated his 3rd birthday in style with all his little buddies. It was a blast chasing the little ones around as they ate pizza, pig cupcakes, and tore around all the cool new exhibits (it must have been over 5 years since I’d last been there with my own kids).
For a little person his age, Alex always impresses me with his level of maturity. And with his awesomely shaggy hair. And how much he looks like a mini version of Ryan. And this time with his awesome Bruce Lee sunglasses. A few of my faves from the session:

Every year for the past five years I’ve looked forward to seeing the Sareens again – Sanjay and Candice are wonderful people, Mya and Aidan are crazy cute and love having their pictures taken, and I just love working with this family. We did shake things up a bit this time – we went for a fall shoot instead of the spring; Aidan was rocking some serious flow to his hair; and we went on-location to the family’s fabulous gravel quarry. What a great place for a shoot – you don’t get to work with hills very often in the Winnipeg area, much less very awesome hills of sand and stone.
It’s almost like a time-lapse video every time I photograph Mya and Aidan – it’s crazy how fast they’re growing up. I thought it would get easier over time to keep up with them, but it sure feels like they keep getting faster while I just keep getting slower. Thank you again Candice and Sanjay – hopefully I can keep photographing your kids whenever I drop into Winnipeg (if you’ll still have me that is!). Just a handful from a really great session:

It was a fateful decision when Jacq and Will decided to book me for their wedding wayyy back in 2005. Since then, I got them both into frisbee, they got me into hockey, and we’ve become good friends with lots of good memories. Here’s a handful from a session I did with Jacq and her family toward the end of the summer (you’ll rarely see me in front of a camera, but I gave in this one time so that the two Will’s could bookend Jacq). I’m going to miss seeing Ethan and Emmett on the sidelines of games!

This is the fourth installment of a four-part series documenting little Jasper’s first year in the world. True to form, he was pretty shy and sober at first, but this time he didn’t spend too much time worrying about the guy with the camera. Jasper had already started walking the last time I saw him, and was now his own little independent and busy explorer. He had a grand old time running on the play structure, taste-testing the gravel, and splashing through the puddle. Not fully a master of movement on two legs, our stay at the playground was unfortunately cut short when Jasper had a little tumble on the hardtop. But thankfully it didn’t seem to put much of a damper on his mood and before long, he was merrily exploring again.
I’m looking forward to putting together the album showing Jasper’s growth through year #1. In the meantime, some faves from this particular session:
