Family – Scott | Val | Ella

Here’s a quick session with good friend Scott, the lovely Val, and their cute little munchkin Ella. It’s amazing how much Ella looks like both of her parents to me – even down to her miniature versions of Val’s big brown eyes & smile and Scott’s furrowed brow. Ella is one of the smiliest babies I’ve ever seen, and it’s not a wonder considering how much loving she gets from her parents. Some faves from the day:

Senior | Grad photos – Allie

Blue dress, blue jeans, older sister, younger sister, babysitter, legislative intern, high school student, and valedictorian – Allie wears a lot of hats, but on this day, the hat of significance was her graduation cap. It was fun and challenging to try and capture the many sides of Allie. From the Legislative Building to the Exchange to the studio, we were able to try out all sorts of different looks and feels to her senior/grad pics. Congrats Allie and best of luck with all the future!  Some of my favorites:

Sunny Sunday wedding – Christel & Tony

Morning light can be fantastic for picture-taking, but with the way most wedding ceremonies and receptions are scheduled, it’s not all that often that I get to take advantage of it.  On this particular sunny Sunday, however, Christel and Tony met me early at the Legislative grounds and we got to play with the fantastic light and deep, deep blue sky of the morning. It’s also uncommon to start the day off with the couple to myself, so I really enjoyed the opportunity to focus on the couple before all the frenzy of the day had kicked in.

Once it did kick in, though, we sure covered a lot of ground!  The wedding party joined us at Level 3 studios where we shifted gears into studio mode, but we soon wandered back outside for pictures in the Exchange.  We made our way to St-Vital Park for photos with Tony’s family, and finally ended up in Niverville for photos with Christel’s family and, ultimately, the ceremony and reception.

As during their engagement portraits, Christel and Tony were so easy to work with.  Always joking and enjoying each other’s company, their smiles were never far from their faces.  Extremely avid texters, there was no question of incorporating that into a shot or two.  An all around beautiful wedding day with lots and lots of fun pictures to boot.  Congrats to the newly wed couple!  Some faves from the day:

East Indian Wedding – Anjali & Arun

I’ll admit to a certain nervous anticipation before Anjali and Arun’s wedding.  I’ve photographed quite a number of Sikh and Hindu weddings now, but this was the first time photographing both ceremonies… one after the other… on the same day!  To my pleasant surprise, the day just flew by and the constant rush of events made for lots of fun and eventful shooting.

We started Saturday bright and early at the Fairmont (though not as early as Anjali who was up with the sun at 4am!).  Under a light sprinkle of rain, the groom’s procession with Arun on his horse made its way to the hotel, where first the Sikh and then the Hindu ceremonies went off without a hitch (other than a brief moment when I wondered if the ominous buzzing of the fire alarm – caused by the smoke from the ceremonial fire – was going to be followed by a cold shower from the sprinklers). Then we had a nice long portrait session, ending Saturday at the Legislative Building and starting Sunday at Red River College.  Just as they were on their engagement session, Anjali and Arun were wonderfully patient and so friendly and easy to work with during the shoots.  We got a ton of nice shots through both days – it’s going to take me awhile to go through so many!  But here is a sneak peek at some of my faves from the weekend.

Robyn & JR’s wedding photos

A few weeks ago, I posted some of the photobooth images from Robyn & JR’s wedding.  Now that I’ve finished processing all the images from their wedding, I wanted to post a few of my faves.  I’ve particularly enjoyed playing with off-camera lighting at weddings lately, and there’s quite a few from this wedding that I thought looked pretty neat.
