Not being from Winnipeg originally, it never ceases to amaze me the pulling power this place has to bring people back. Rik may have moved west last year, but his band the Tribe of One put down a lot of roots during its time here, and I wasn’t surprised when I heard Festival du Voyageur was bringing them back to play again. Beyond shooting his concert at the Festival du Voyageurs, I also had a chance to work with local singer/songwriter Rik Leaf earlier this year to take some photos for his recently released CD. With the help of my talented friend, colleague, and studio partner Rebecca Croft, we spent a few hours down at the Edge Artist Collective on Main Street playing with lights and cool settings. Local singer/songwriter Rik Leaf recently released a new album and wanted some coverage as he performed a set of new songs to the folks at the Festival du Voyageur. Although he himself thought the show was slowed down by “technical difficulties” at various points, I thought the performance went well and was enjoyed by all. The artists and dancers he had performing with him made for good eye candy for the camera too.
